Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said in his 10-minutes speech(1), that education at school is the most problematic thing nowadays: a lot of children haven't passed their final exams “ZNO” (2) .
Generally speaking, this problem is not a brand new one; this issue has been discussed during past decades. The system of education at school has been forming on the principle “to let the pupils out” for a long time.
When I was in the 11th grade, my teachers hinted, that in order to get the certificate I should have paid partially for repairing of the whole school, for buying new tables, balls for the Gym and should have bought presents for your teachers, of course. If we count all these expenses, we will get a “nice” sum.
Consequently, getting good knowledge means paying good money. But after the results of “ZNO”, we can understand that we get second-rate knowledge. Why didn’t we make an accent on learning foreign languages at school 10-15 years ago? Is it real, that pupils didn't need to learn languages earlier? These children (now they are adults) face with the problem of how to employ, because they need a high level of knowledge not only in English, but in other languages too.
Ukraine should have implemented the reform into the system of education a long time ago, but not now, when the education exists only due to enthusiasm of parents and a few motivated pupils.
